Luxury motor yacht SHEMARA is a beautiful and elegant classic mega yacht built in 1938 by Vosper Thorneycroft in Southampton, UK. Measuring 65 metres superyacht SHEMARA has a very interesting history and was used as a submarine training vessel during World War II, following which she was purchased by her previous owner Sir Bernard Docker and utilised as a luxury yacht in the 1960s. In 2007, she was rediscovered by her current owner and in 2014 concluded her extensive three-year refit, turning her, once again, into an elegant and luxurious vessel.
The 2013/2014 refit of SHEMARA included a refurbishment of the crew cabins, bathrooms, mess areas and the main saloon by Trimline Yacht Interiors. The interior spaces have been revitalised sympathetically balancing new, contemporary twist to the interior with many original features paying tribute to the yacht’s rich heritage. The main saloon features a hand-made stone fireplace and timber panelling, providing a grand entertaining space.

SHEMARA’s hull was also rebuilt, using as much original steel plate as possible, but with a new underwater profile to aid stability, add a keel and a bulbous bow, as well as to allow for the azimuthing drives aft. Her superstructure was redesigned and rebuilt in aluminium, including the old wheelhouse, originally constructed in brass. The masts were substituted with carbon replicas, and the main funnel was remade in GRP.
The upper deck superstructure was slightly lengthened to accommodate for a spacious upper deck saloon and day bar, however she has maintained the original portholes, and her hull, from the sheer line to the waterlines, boasts the original plating.
The general arrangements of the interior are by Design Unlimited, featuring interior design by the London-based Studioilse. There is an esoteric mix of furniture and the wonderful giant formal saloon and dining room on the main deck offer fantastic place for SHEMARA’s owner and guests to unwind.
Accommodation aboard SHEMARA yacht includes six double guest cabins and a large VIP on the lower deck, as well as the owner’s suite forward on the upper deck. All decks are elegantly linked by a grand central staircase.
There is a great selection of deck spaces, including the observation deck on the top of the wheelhouse as well as the large sunbathing area aft on the bridge deck. The expansive aft deck boasts a fantastic plunge pool on the upper deck and an al fresco dining area on the main deck aft. On the upper deck, the side decks were maintained wide and are similar to the promenade decks of classic liners.
Comfort aboard SHEMARA superyacht is guaranteed by fully retractable active-fin stabilisers, station keeping is by a fully integrated Dynamic Positioning System, an important system upgrade to the regular super yacht outfit, however one that perfectly ties together the enhanced functionality of the propulsion system.
